Project Components
LTEAP is comprised of the following integrated components: Site Design, Ecology and Park Programming.
Site Design
LTEAP endorses strategic partnerships with progressive and established arts organizations, green designers and businesses to minimize the environmental impact of the following on-site features through sustainable design and reuse of existing structures:
o Community/Visitors Center & Retreat Facilities
o Amphitheater
o Non-Permanent Sculpture Garden
Ecology
Preserve and improve existing watershed and riparian habitat.
Incorporate progressive environmental engineering (e.g. bioremediation and biofiltration) to filter and remove bacteria and toxins from Topanga Creek
before its waters reach the Pacific Ocean.
Minimize disturbance of the natural site, minimize invasive plant species and restore native vegetation.
Apply an integrated approach to promote and protect clean beaches and
recreation areas for long-term community access and enjoyment.
Park Programming
LTEAP conceptualizes the creative arts as:
o Relevant to how people experience, understand and relate to a
given environment;
o Inspirational, educational and supportive of ‘place-making’;
o Valid in communicating complex ideas, facts, relationships and
environmental aesthetics to individuals;
o Significant to Topanga’s rich cultural history.
Provide public access to arts and environmental education programming.
Preserve and integrate local cultural legacies (e.g. Chumash and Tongva
Native Americans, historic creative arts community).
Create an artist in residency program (i.e. resident artists to create on-site
exhibits and facilitate classes and educational programming for the public).
